| In 1874 The National Insurance Company of New Zealand Limited a Dunedin based Fire & General Company appointed its first agent in Fiji in Levuka
1952/53 saw the beginning of a small scale office staffed by a local resident inspector who was an employee of the then Suva based company Stinsons Limited.
The association of the Stinson family proved to be of immense benefit and the Fiji Branch made steady progress.
In 1974, it was felt that the existing arrangements could be improved and that there was need to identify the Company closer to their Fijian operations. a locally incorporated Company, The National Insurance Company of Fiji, Limited was established and began operations on 1st September 1974 taking over the opeartions of the Fiji branch. In April 1977, the company acquired the Hartford Insurance Co. Limited portfolio.
1980 the company acquired the Southern Pacific Insurance companies portfolio.
Then in 1999 the National Insurance Company of Fiji Limited changed its name to TOWER Insurance Fiji Limited in line with the demutualisation of our parent company. |
